ASG’s separation tank serves two purposes:
- Separate materials that sink from those that float.
- Soaks and cleans the material.
For PET recycling, the separation tank plays an important role in removing PP/PE contamination (originating from plastic labels and bottle caps) from a stream of contaminated PET flakes.
How It Works
As a stream of contaminated PET flakes enter the separation tank filled with water, large rotating drums as well as water jets propel the material forward and into the water. Water has a density of 1 g/cm3. If any material has a higher density, it will sink to the bottom. Likewise, any material with a lower density will float to the top.
In PET recycling, PP/PE plastic has a density below 1 g/cm3 and will float to the top and collected. PET plastic, on the other hand, has a density above 1 g/cm3 and will sink to the bottom where a screw conveyor will move the sunk material to the next piece of recycling machinery.

Placing An Order
For single machinery orders, the lead time is generally 30 days. For complete PET recycling lines, the lead time is generally between 60 – 90 days. For custom projects, the lead time will be based on the complexity of the project. The above are estimated lead times, final lead times will be based on the number of equipment we have in queue at the time of your purchase.
